L-Theanine is a unique amino acid, it is present almost exclusively in the Camelia Sinensis tea plant.

The tea is the second most consumed beverage in the world; Green tea contains a large amount of theanine and other polyphenols. It is easily absorbed in the intestine and crosses the blood-brain (H-E) barrier, making it useful as a neurotransmitter.

Theanine is the only neurotransmitter with double or triple action. It raises the amount of gamma amino butyric acid (GABA).
